J.T.l. Medio-Fino Violin, Ca. 1920'S

This is a Medio-Fino model violin made by a firm called Jerome Thibouville-Lamy in France. Not sure of exact year, but is probably from the 1920's. It was a one family owned instrument.

It has been completely gone through by a very experienced violin maker. He installed made a new bridge, new pegs, resurfaced fingerboard, reglued lower seams adjacent to end block, removed most of the rosin build up from the top (without removing the original finish), made a new nut, and installed new strings. It has the original decrative tailpiece, so the decision was made to not install string adjusters.

This is a very playable vintage instrument with a nice warm tone. Comes with what appears to be the original wooden case, original bow (needs rehaired), and original pegs. Also comes with a newer style case that needs a latch replaced.Â
